There are so many needs all around me that sometimes it gets a little overwhelming! One person at a time …
Saturday mornings are spent teaching ESL to the kids in our barrio. Sunday mornings I help set-up and take down for our family’s church plant. I also play the piano for the introit and the offering time. Occasionally I help with Sunday School. For a couple of weeks each summer, I help my family host a missions trip from our church in Boston. We teach ESL to a local high school, do service projects at a boy’s farm for street kids, help out at an at-risk children’s center and do manual labor around the college.
Here’s some photos to help explain it all more …
Teaching English to neighborhood kids on Saturday mornings.
Painting the playground on campus as part of the service projects the Boston youth group does each summer.
I co-taught English to a class of high school juniors and seniors at Colegio Villa Flora which is located next door to our campus. Some of them had never met a person from another country! We called it English Week: 3 hours per day for one week.
I sang with some of the Boston youth for a special presentation to the student body at Colegio Villa Flora.
